About Us
Zaharamap Elimu Foundation
Zaharamap Elimu Foundation is Christian Faith based organisation duly registered under the Public Benefit Organizations Regulatory Authority kenya. Registration number NGO-ABUJWM6 (formally NGO Board)
Zaharamap Elimu program is dedicated to supporting the education and well-being of children living in poverty with high academic potential in rural Kenya. Zaharamapelimu is located in Machakos,Mavoko, Syokimau. Our journey began in 2025 with just four children, and today, Zaharamap Elimu supports over 15 children, including many orphans, in all aspects of their lives and education. We focus on primary school children who are orphans or vulnerable by enrolling them in quality boarding secondary schools.
Our high school students attend National and County schools where we help them strive for excellence. Post-high school, we will endevour to enroll them in quality universities and technical institutions based on their grades and abilities.
Zaharamap Elimu provides comprehensive scholarships that cover tuition fee, pocket money and basic school shopping .
More importantly, we offer ongoing psychosocial support, business literacy, and, above all, Love.
ZEF Program supports 2/3 of girls and 1/3 of boys. The future of our incredible orphans without Zaharamapelimu’s support is unimaginable, especially for our young ladies.
EDUCATED GIRLS DEFY ODDS
Perhaps the most significant contributor to global poverty alleviation and gender equality is girls’ education. In Kenya, girls are more likely to drop out of school after primary school than boys. When you keep a girl in school, she will be more likely to marry later, have fewer and healthier children, earn a decent living, educate her children, and live longer.
When given opportunity, empowered girls break through barriers. They lead as school prefects. They excel as math champions. They grow into engineers and lawyers, mentors and changemakers.
EDUCATED BOYS CREATE CHANGE
We cannot underestimate the role of boys’ education in the fight for gender parity worldwide. Zaharamap Elimu is for the opinion that, due to historical injustices meted to girl child, alot of emphasis has been directed to girl child while the boy child has lagged behind.
Gender equality in Kenya depends on investing in boys as much as girls. While much-needed attention has rightly gone to girls’ education in recent decades, boys in vulnerable communities face their own barriers — poverty, absent role models, and pressure to leave school early for work. Left unsupported, these gaps can lead to unemployment, substance abuse, and cycles of instability that affect entire communities.
Zaharamap Elimu believes lasting change requires lifting both girls and boys together. An educated, emotionally healthy generation of young men becomes partners, fathers, and leaders who support the same progress their sisters are making — not obstacles to it. That’s why our program, alongside our strong focus on girls, is intentional about mentoring boys toward positive masculinity, responsibility, and opportunity
In kenya, unemployed, and uneducated boys are more likely to be involved in antisocial norms like substance abuse, crime and community menace. Zaharamap Elimu believes that, in order to maintain parity and healthier community, we need to move both gender to a higher indifference curve.
With exposure to healthy gender norms through empowernment, the community produces individuals who enhances sustainability in the society at large
